Considering my IT field yes. I'd probably stay in the suburbs though. You can see @Harpie 's tent in that pic.

To answer my own topic- I would consider it, I know someone living in a decent one bedroom apartment for $1,100 a month there now in the city, in a decent area.

Absolutely gorgeous city, could eat the seafood there for every meal every day & never get sick of it, lot of fun things to do in the area & some great people live there... but no, never. Too expensive & I couldn't take the psychic damage of being around that many homeless people everyday. I mean the last time I went to Chicago was close to the last time I went to Seattle & the homeless situation is bad there too, but with the former it's just really sad to see - west coast hobos are legit scary. Psychotic, aggro tweakers everywhere you look

Suburbs/rural areas within a 2 hours' driving distance though... maybe

I'd consider it, but definitely not at the top of the list. Not the best weather and overpriced.

Funny you say that since Seattle is basically my best-case-scenario living area weather-wise. Rainy weather (and with scenery that complements it perfectly) >>>>>

I've been to seattle, it's a really beautiful city. Also a really touristy place to go, lots of shit to do. But it feels more like a touristy city than an actual place to live.

Cost of living differences always blow my mind. Im paying 700 a month for a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house.

And no. I understand it rains there a lot. And despite its flaws I love the south

I would never live in the city because the traffic is horrible, but would definitely live in the greater metro area.

Beautiful and can do literally anything within a couple hour drive. Mountains, lakes, rivers, the ocean, etc.

2008 to 2011, when the housing market was at a discount, you could find a lot of cheap houses in the suburbs of seattle or anywhere in the United States, that was a good time to get in and move there.

but now everything is so overpriced, so no, I wouldn't move there. I'm gonna retire as an expat and move to asia where my money will go a long long way.

I moved here three years ago. It's a special place in my mind. The summers are the best I've ever seen and the autumn's are also great. The winters kind of suck, mostly because of how little light there is. There is so much beauty to see if you have a car. Even if you don't, the cascades in the background are beautiful and there are lots of parks and trees in the city. The people can be annoying and it is stupid expensive. Good sports, just need to get a basketball team back here. I showed up with $1000 and stayed in a hostel while starting a temp job. I recommend it for anyone who needs to start a career and has a bit of thick skin.

My only major complaint is that the arts scene and nightlife is lacking for a city of this magnitude.
