Ive been more or less raised to not cry. I think if you are an older male you may be able to relate to "the times" back then but it was essentially guys dont cry, they get mad and that was deemed ok.

Ive always wondered if this was damaging. It was generally seen as weird/awkward and or pathetic for a guy to cry and they were seen as weak for doing so. Is it still so? Have the times changed?

I think completely suppressing your feelings is likely bad.

Like it's cool to not cry unless you are engaging your feelings, but to be unable to access them is bad.

Like if the world is doing this tough guys don't cry thing, I can play that, but I don't think it's beneficial.

Crying isn't weakness, lack of control of your emotions is.

Tbh its more like being trained to do something or more so trained not to react in a certain way.

But it can be damaging when you are sad but just feel blank or passive about the issue cause thats how you address sad things that could make you cry or instead you just get angry about it because thats ok.

My family member died? Im so pissed off about that!
