Yep.

Treatment helps - therapy and medication - but that shit can only do so much. My recent medication has at least done away with my suicidal ideation for the time being, but it has gone hard in fucking my sleeping up.

Because if you're depressed then imagine how scared the people you love who are weaker feel. So if you love em, at least be the strongest mother fucker in the room at your dad's funeral. And if you don't have anyone you love like this, then wtf why are you wasting around on the internet shitposting when you could learn a new skill and be productive enough in society that you can find purpose in being strong like this to someone around you?

better hear back in like a month that progress is being made towards these goals, people.

dude have fun with it, man. be interested in what other people want/like. people are amazing, everyone's unique and novelty is everywhere with everyone. if you look good then go talk to people, smile and make eye contact.

especially now with covid over and nobody wearing masks anymore, everyone's eager to meet/talk and especially people who are in good shape. go walk around and take random snapchats of yourself having fun and send them to your friends/family and you'll have people ready to chat or even jump in, it's a party out there. or head out to a bigger city if you can't do this around where you're out.

so be the gladest badass you can be ;) enjoy it and find joy, the only logical and sustainable choice. and yes it is a choice too, even when other things are needed as additional answers/solutions. the choice has to be made to pursue all available options, and practicing optimism and relentless choosing of positivity every second until it becomes second nature...is necessary. It eventually does become a habit and you can leverage it to affect those around you for great change.

yeah everyone's is different, but i was depressed for a long time. the logic of the matter is clear though, and this is why logic is a critical skill. it's necessary to be capable of knowing when to make choices based on the logic of the matter.

logically, we must go through life anyway. so might as well make it the most badass optimistic and awesome happy life possible. depression does sap you of energy and a willingness to do this. it makes living a chore/bore. it exhausts people like TC said.

the motivation is that life is necessary anyway, so might as well make it awesome like i said. practicing these assertions helped me a lot and it was a learned skill from someone else. but idk you do you, perhaps a proper therapist is needed if it's more than just the usual existential dread most smart people go through lol

There are ways to fight it if course, but no person is "wired" exactly the same. Being positive is good, but there are times where you are literally incapable.

There is a huge difference between being depressed and suffering from depression.

Tired of toxic positivity trash being thrown at people suffering from a illness. No, smiling and being rad won't make us better. All it will do is make me smile and be red while being depressed.

friend of mine is good looking too and very good socially and he still struggles with depression and anxiety, tough beast, sun helps, exercizing, having a routine, a stable partner etc.

some people I heard of explored the spiritual side of things and it helped them tremendously, heard of at least 1 other who dealt with his depression through running every morning, outside, several miles

I've never really had it "lift" for more than a dozen hours a year. But yeah it sucks bad.

Yeah, it's terrible

I've been really bad for about 7 years now, but I've always had it. I finally stopped drinking back in January, got on Zoloft for 3 months, which didn't help, and started to garden outside, which HAS helped me.

But even though I know that I enjoy gardening, and will garden all day once I do it, it's getting started is the hardest part for me. I just have to go and done one quick thing, and then look around and do another, and another

I hope you can find something that can help you. Took me years and years to find it, and it's f'n brutal

I've had it since I was 12-13. Tried probably every pill under the sun and nothing has helped. The fee therapists I've had really weren't helping either. It and my social anxiety have been huge roadblocks throughout my life. I have my good days and I have my absolutely terrible days where I hate myself just about all day. Just wish I was "normal". I also wish I could go more into it, but the site doesn't like that sort of thing.

I will say this, sometimes you find your own reasons worth living and the worst enemy to disassemble that is you and yourself

if you can recognize how much we do damage you can do to yourself at least you can acknowledge that youre capable of
selling you pure shit that your mind is on the prowl to accept and eat

think of something you enjoy, something that you REALLY enjoy

thats worth living for because it makes you happy

and there doesnt have to be more thinking beyond that, you enjoy it - what more could you ask for?

How do you go about getting diagnosed? I dont know if Im depressed but Im just not myself. Ive always been a happy and nice person. Now I feel like it takes all the energy I have just to tolerate people. Im lonely but at the same time dont even want to be bothered with the people attempting to see me.

Im also lacking in motivation to do anything besides browse the internet for hours.
