Theres like a million Star Trek topics on CE so Ive been curious to give it another shot. Found out its on Korean Netflix so I gave it another go. Started with TNG Season 2 this time.

First episode was about some girl getting space pregnant with a magic alien who just wanted to know what it means to be human.

Second episode has the entire ship kidnapped by an extra dimensional being who kills one of the crew for the lulz, but then ends with some spiel about *humans* being the militant ones. Like I can probably buy that its supposed to be an allegory or something, but that doesnt make the story in-universe any less dumb. >_>

Also like half the dialogue is exposition and technical jargon, and everyones personality is Star Wars prequels levels of flat.

I dont think Im gonna revisit this franchise any time soon lol.

try ds9 at least once before you give up completely. it starts kinda slow, too, though, so maybe not, but it's quite different overall from the rest of the 90s series.

Boom! That's right, this is all happening! You cannot change the channel now!

The creator of Star Trek had a vision of the future in which crewmembers do not fight among each other. The crew always gets along with each other, flatly, and all conflict comes from an external source

It wasn't until TNG Season 5 that he died, and the other producers created conflict between the crewmembers, and strong personalities

I don't watch Star Wars.

Surrender yourself to the darkness. A hero's rightful place is underneath my boot, stomped flat like the insignificant worms they are.

My issue is that there are tons of shows with get along gang protagonists that still manage to portray their archetypes with personality. >_>

Maybe Ill check out some of the other series sometime, though. I do need some background noise thats actually in English so I can follow along while multi-tasking.

The stories themselves just feel so dry. Like some of the concepts and ideas are legit interesting, but it comes off as exciting as a school textbook.

I do enjoy the comfy atmosphere though whenever theyre just chilling on the Enterprise.

For the record, I dont feel a need to have Star Trek cater to my tastes. I respect the show and it has its fans. Despite never really caring for it, I felt kind of bummed when I see a bunch of people complaining about how modern Trek seemed to water it all down
