I mean I carry or would carry a lot of junk with me if it was normalized for men to carry bags. Tissues, ibuprofen, small snacks. It would be so convenient. Instead I have to rely on my wife keeping stuff I might want or need in her purse.

For me it's more like... Knife, other knife for if I decide I don't just need to defend myself but send a lesson to some fruits or things with the consistency of fruits, wallet, keys, makeup, pepper spray, kirby toy, snacks, "personal massager", etc.

Yeah but which is a result of which?

Id probably use pepper spray over a knife. Plenty of men can still go off adrenaline after being stabbed. And it's hard to hit where you need to while anxious. Pepper spray got that spread. Plus, stabbing someone with a knife probably is something that sticks with you when you're not a person who likes violence. I personally don't wanna know what it feels like to push pass organs with a knife >_>

There was a reddit AMA with some fashion designer years ago who basically said women's clothes don't have pockets so we can get them to buy a purse. Which is just like, evil.

Hmm good point, I should ask my husband for one of his knives. I do take one when I go on a hike though.

lol yeah. I'd be extremely reluctant to use a knife in any situation. Probly even to the point id be at more risk due to not wanting to stick a knife in someone.

I wear a backpack regularly in my late 30s. I'd consider a satchel or something even except typically when I need to bring that much stuff with me I'm riding or hiking and a backpack is just far more convenient.

Most don't really have a spread, that's why you need to spray back and forth between the eyes. The pain in their face definitely shows if it's working or not.

With a knife the main thing is remember how much leverage you can get into it. Bad if you're beneath them on the ground, great if they're swinging at you and you have some experience catching punches.

I know a women's struggle in the summer. I wear gym shorts with no pockets and nothing else. I usually end up carrying a scratchy ass backpack. Im probably one the only guys in mid Michigan walking/riding around shirtless with a backpack, like I'm in southern california.

This doesn't even make sense. Unless they literally have your arms pinned you can stab from the bottom position as easy as anything else. Actually more easily than if both people are standing.

True. But pepper spray still has more range. Unless you practice and using throwing knives. Now that would be a sight to see. Plus, you wouldn't have to get too personal

Stabbing? I prefer slashing knives tbh. But that aside, I just have them for if the situation merits it. Obviously it's not my first line of defense. Heck, fighting is a last resort after exhausting options like escaping them.

I always get confused when I see people calling things not for holding your money a purse. I do know some Brits do call a handbag/clutch/whatever a purse but I never have.
