Normally wind farms can hit that minimum pretty easy, and it is just particular windless days that they have to pay for. And they also normally pay about $22 per MWH. However, during the cold snap, all the wind farms fell massively short of that minimum number, and instead of $22, they now had to pay $9,000 per MWH that they were short. Basically stuck them with a 4 day bill that is more than the entire wind farm is worth.
