You order a laptop from Amazon and you open the shipping box and see the laptop box.

A the top flap looks slightly damaged. Could be because it was actually already opened (though there's a strip of tape with the manufacturer's name intact across where the flap meets the box). Could also be because someone was pulling it out and it snagged on another box or item and got forced out a little bit.

You open the box and the laptop is in a clear plastic bag that fits the shape of the laptop just fine (like the original bag), but you notice a lot of flecks from the cardboard inside and there are some spots on the plastic of the bag that look kinda weird.

And there's no "new electronics smell". It doesn't smell like anything, just doesn't have that characteristic artificial odor to it.

Would you assume it's just something that's been sitting there for a while, or would you assume it was an open box item?
