making this based on what I've seen on the military subreddits.

One guy went undesignated seaman after getting a college degree. That is the bare minimum basicest ass job you can do in the military, you're doing the chump work no one else wants to do and you're the absolute bottom of the food chain.

A lot of people take the time before joining to look up specific jobs and get the terminology right, but they want to join the Reserves and have zero concept of how it works/what the requirements are -_-

I've always heard if going into the military for a career, get a degree first. if you go that route, do you not still start at the bottom? or can you go right in with higher ranks just because you have a degree in some military shit?

some people dont mind being designated its no big deal, when i was in I knew a BM who said he joined specifically to be a BM because he was working on a fishing boat in Alaska and loved hard work, I never could figure out why people volunteered to be a BM

Yes, you need to have a college degree to join as an officer. Officers make more money than enlisted but have different jobs, more responsibility and scope of leadership right off the bat.

Definitely the way to go for most people with a degree.

eccept they are some jobs like in nuclear power you have to go to school over 2 years before doing that work but it a free military school for those that are already in a lot of military jobs need a lot of training, very few people want to be infantry, almost everyone asks for a job with advanced schooling, you can get a guaranteed in writing job before you join and be sent to school for it after boot camp, but ifvyou cant pass the school you will not get the job you were guaranteed, every one has to pass a test before joining that predicts how you will do on the job, you need a minimum score just to attend school for the job, at least in the navy, so you do need to be smart just to get in
