I didn't want to write anything about it because it's unprofessional but fuck I'm just tired of this shit.

Had a two hour meeting with a *ton* of people today, it was just one guy shouting in everyone's year (yay virtual technologies) about how the Human Resources department sucks. That was already pointless enough - you're just venting to a group of people about a problem they can't fix, definitely not the right forum.

And then he talked about extremism in the ranks (it's a thing the Secretary of Defense has put out, that he wants the service secretaries and chiefs to develop training and take action to root out extremists and racists in the military). And this guy literally says, "I can't tell you not to join a group, you know, like, the Oath Keepers because there's a lot of questions about things."

You seriously can't tell me that it's bad as an American military service member to associate or join a group that has openly advocated for an overthrow of a democratically elected government in America?

What the fuck. I legitimately feel like I'm working with some of the people who risk losing their jobs if anyone ever actually paid attention to what they were saying, then I have to hear that shit?

It's embarrassing and depressing.

It needs to be recorded and outed when people aren't living up to the ideals they are supposed to and are in leadership positions in our most sacred of bodies in the country.

I should have recorded it. I mean there were 100 people there, I like to think I'm not the only person who thought it was a ridiculous comment to make.

I was already agitated enough that the purpose of the meeting was to "engage the subordinates" except nothing about it was engaging at all. It was all very dry, high level discourse about policies that maybe 5% of the audience actually has any purview of.

Hearing that just put me over the top.

I'm surprised you didn't know what you were getting into when you enlisted

That's not even a dig at you

I made my decision over a decade ago, and actually the community I normally work in is really liberal (you get onesies or twosies who are just really ignorant but by and large the majority of people are either really tolerant if not fully supportive of everyone else). I'm at a different assignment though and it's... just fucking killing me.
