Not my favorite, but the GT-R line has been the most prominent and overall. This is a car that stepped towards supercar territory with a strong and polarizing impression.

LFA probably the most exquisite.

NSX (NA generations) and FD RX-7's leaning into new classics.

Quite frankly the assortment of Japanese sports cars is still under appreciated as they're heavily being used at YT content and trendy thinking. I'm always at odds with modifying my Z34 because there's a lot to appreciate with the OEM engineering process.

Could be in terms of numbers and performance , but if we're talking about greatness/legacy, it's more in the LFA's favor. A virtually coach built car in comparison with an unmatched V10 design that Toyota willingly took financial losses on. It's incredibly rare that any manufacturer would commit to that.

The problem with the new NSX is that it departs from the appeal of the original, which not to mention also had ties to Ayrton Senna. It's actually a really cool car but if you can afford one of those, you can afford a Ferrari. And unless you're so stupidly rich, you can only afford one. Realistically most people would get the Ferrari.

yeah prob the same problem with the lfa. Most of em' want ferraris over the lfa and nsx. Aren't you on the shoe board also? and nba? you like basketball, shoes , and cars? this guy has good taste. Don't tell me you also like watches?

Thing about the LFA is that it's very limited and the sound will always be rather immortalized. There was one being sold locally and I contemplated taking an awful loan and selling my kidney for it.

Never got into watches. I get the appeal, but I was just never around it enough and it's such a deep field of understanding. I also believe that it's something that requires money as it requires a fair share of firsthand experience.

GTR and NSX are GT/super cars, way too piggy to be sports cars.
LFA is closer, but i'll say S2000 is the best japanese sports car, with a Miata close second. 3rd gen RX7 and 1st and 2nd MR2s get mentions, too.

a sports car doesn't need to be powerful, it needs to be lightweight and focused on handling.

The Nissan GT-R Black Edition this year is $200,000, it's absolutely ridiculous when the MSRP of the base model was $70,000 13 years ago.

Oh my bad, it's the Nismo that goes for 200k, but a $130,000 price hike over a decade is still absurd.

The GT-R became vastly overpriced into something it no longer is. The base started as a competitor to the 997 Turbo, and then hiked over the years to outrun a myriad of supercars in the Nismo build.

Great, but I imagine the gripe is that people were hoping for it to be more accessible of a sports car. Kinda be the same bargain that the Corvette has been. That's the issue people take with the BMW Supra. Cost cutting measures through the collaboration and a faster C7 could be acquired for the money, and a more exotic feeling C8 isn't too far away at that point.

Also, it's underwhelming to know the current GT-R is still the same platform as from 2008.
