Is this the sort of game where you can jump in with a random group and have fun, or is it all griefers and cheaters unless you're playing with friends?

I'd say it's usually most fun with friends, yeah. But it's also a game that's effective with a more small group of friends. We also have a little Among Us group here too that will probably end up growing bigger once the new map is released!
