even weirder imo. The side gigs are already weird - in essence, they are identical - kill someone, save someone, or plant a bug/retrieve information stealthily. They each tell a unique story, so that is cool.

Besides the side gigs and crime alerts and random crime encounters there's no real side content to the game, though. No real reason to explore the world, nothing to collect since most of the useful collectibles are collocated with mission activities.

Yet... I discovered a pair of NPCs I interacted with in the course of a side gig in Watson (one district) later on in the downtown area of the game. And we had a philosophical conversation about humanity and existence. And it was weird. There was no indication anything special was there, if I didn't just randomly hear a certain line of dialogue I would have ignored it outright.

I'm wondering now how many other such encounters exist in the game, or what sort of consequences there are to certain actions in certain side gigs.

Eh, I have no issues with the side gigs because they are like side missions to the side missions.

but I think this game has some of the best-written missions I've done. Like the one for river or the one about the investigation into the dead mayor.

Its such a shame for the bad rap it got for consoles cause the story of the game is so great,

Just think. Now you're all set to hunt and kill to your heart's content.

I like the side gigs a lot, but I think it's strange that they have details like post-side gig interactions with NPCs in random areas that are extremely possible to miss because there's very little to do or see or interact with in the world itself.

I did one last night where you have to rescue a doctor in Watson. She's working on fixing up a gang member. The first time I played the mission, I just rushed her out because the dialogue option forces you to do so. But this time I played it I listened to her instructions and ignored the dialogue options altogether and helped save the guy. So I am really curious if he pops up later at all. I thought that was a cool moment, I'm just sad that those are the exceptions and not the rule.
