Talking about games like Divinity or Fallout. Do you just make a generic good guy or try to base their decisions on your own?

usually sassy good. i rarely play bad/evil unless it's a second play through. Or it's a game like tyranny where that's kind of the point to be a dick.

1st playthrough is whatever I feel like, which tends to lean chaotic neutral. Afterwards is when I might do a full evil or good playthrough.

It's weird, I can play games like GTA with no problem, but I always tend to be a goofy two shoes in RPGs. It's hard to be bad especially when a lot of games make you do cartoonishly evil things if you go down that route.

Generally good.

But if stealing is a mechanic, Im also a kleptomaniac.

And if you can kill any NPC, Ill dole out vigilante justice on certain peeps, even if the quest doesnt require me to.

Mostly good, especially on a first play through. The problem is going Evil is almost always not just poorly written but a worse choice as far as rewards go.

Good. I show citizens the error of their ways by becoming their oppressive and destructive despot.

I always going in with a "I'm gonna be a real bitch, the weak shall serve the strong!" but then the dialogue options make me feel bad and I end up being good

Chaotic neutral. Do what i want when i want. Sell a person to a slave camp oneday, sneak in free the slaves the next. Become vampire, canablize other vampires to become the alpha vampire. Blow up city, marry bitter ghoulifed survivor, move to tenpenny tower, divorce ghoul wife, let ghouls take over tower, kill all the ghouls, move my ex wife in.

I almost always play as a pretty typical good guy on my first playthrough. I go evil on subsequent playthroughs generally.

The best one is playing the hero. Go around saving people/communities from monsters, saving cats in trees, and filling the people with hope.

And then I take it all away and destroy everything.

See a good villain doesn't just destroy the world, no. You gain the people's trust. You make it so everytime you walk by you see them smile.

Hope is the greatest weapon.

I work to change the law through nonviolent means.

I usually do a playthrough of both. usually good first but it depends on the game

Usually playthough for one for each if they're very different and they do the stupid good/evil powerset gimmick. If not, then I generally just try to save and reload to play through different options. I find that there have been very few games truly enticing enough to just play as you wish.

It depends.

First play through is trying everything out on easy mode. (that includes saving, trying out a new option, then reloading. This can suss out the immediate consequeces)

Often first play is pure good guy. Why? Because lots of games with evil options have quick gains, but permanently lock off certain options if you do them. Yeah, killing that village got you a lot of quick gold, but now the quests in that town don't work because the NPC for XYZ quest is dead and no one trusts you anymore!)

Being the good guy keeps your options open the longest, at the cost of immediate money/loot.

Usually in Neutral/Chaotic good. In TES games I always end up being a psychopath though.

2nd playthrough is the psychopath play.

Generally some variant of Good, because there is so much Evil in the real world as is.

Chaotic good.

I'm all for being the hero, until I'm expected to do something righteously stupid to keep it up. Some NPCs just don't deserve to be trusted/allowed to walk away, for example.

Neutral Good is usually the most satisfying way to play for me, though there are some games that are better taking another alignment. Dragon Age 2 for example was more enjoyable my second playthrough as chaotic neutral and was genuinely hilarious when you dont take the game seriously.
