Downloaded HWMonitor and it's showing a range of between 520 - 601 while idling, temperatures of 37-50 degrees C (keeps mostly fluctuating between 36-39 though right now, just have a few browsers open and Steam).

Am wondering... what's up with that. Everywhere I look says that the average fan RPM is like 1000+ but I don't know if that's for under load or not. Computer is about five years old.

Should I just keep monitoring it and see what happens there?

I just started up GhostControl, Inc. which is a very non demanding game and it's not even moving the numbers lol.

Loaded up Halo Wars, figured it'd be a slightly heavier load. Still not breaking 50 degrees but the temperature is also... fluctuating a lot, like it'll hover around 40-42 for a little bit then spike up to 48 for a second then drop again.

I don't even think it told me anything, it just said "fan error" and invited me to press F7 to explore further, but it took me to a BIOS page for managing that stuff and ... I didn't see any other error messages.

The Fan RPM you see there was red when the number was under 300; after I took that picture I looked and it was over 300 and clear.

It's just weird, never had this happen before. Although I have noticed recently too that if I turn my computer on *before* turning on my display then the display doesn't get a signal - just manually resetting the computer fixes it... it's annoying, but I'm wondering if it's maybe related to that (i.e., maybe mobo wasn't giving out a signal because of this fan error... idfk).

So today I start it up and there's no display signal again and I looked at the motherboard and there's a slot that says "boot device input" with an engaged red light...

wtf does that mean :(
