"I don't like your opinions, so I'm going to work to have your civil rights taken away on spurious medical grounds" is the slipperiest of slippery slopes. The Soviets used to detain dissidents in psychiatric prisons because any opposition to the system was diagnosed as a symptom of mental illness.
