Will Farrell better get at least one run at it.

We might see Buzzy Cohen on there given that he had interest in being the host. Brad Rutter will probably also be on there given that he wanted to be a game show host back in the 2000s. And I imagine that Pat Sajak might also be on there given that he did a pretty good job hosting the April Fools 1997 episode.

This. I think a "series of guest hosts" is more just giving Ken a trial run since he isn't super experienced with hosting like Alex Trebek was when he started.

Morgan Freeman is kind of old. If they hire him they're just going to have to find yet another replacement in a few more years. If they really want to keep the image of the show they need to hire someone who will have the longevity that Alex did.

They probably weren't doing auditions for a new host out of respect for Alex, and they are basically doing public auditions.

Let Morgan Freeman do an episode or five - and also Betty White, like Trebek specifically requested that one time.

Ken will be a welcome reminder of the guest who spent the most time with Alex. Unless he really surprises us I don't see him becoming full time host. LeVar Burton is the best pick in this critic's eyes. Kunta Kinte, Geordi La Forge, and himself in Reading Rainbow. Come on, who else could compete with that resume for the next host of Jeopardy? He has gravitas.

Ken has the jeopardy experience though. I think Jennings is the favourite by far, and this series of hosts is basically just cover in case it turns out Ken Jennings' hosting is hot ****.

It will never be the same though, Price is Right just won't ever be as great again without Bob Barker and Rod Roddy, and Jeopardy will never be as great again without Alex Trebek.

Jeopardy is different from The Price is Right

The Price Is Right is really not that interesting for the viewer when you think about it. It's basically a guessing game. A show like this needs a REALLY good host to keep it interesting. Drew Carey is alright but he's not nearly as good as Bob Barker.

Jeopardy meanwhile is a trivia game, so it is possible for viewers to track their personal progress and gain some reward from watching the show. Also it has returning champions who are basically characters that the audience can get get attached to. Think of another game show that has as many well-remembered contestants as Jeopardy does, there isn't one that's even close.

In other words Jeopardy can stand on its own regardless of who hosts it, and really all a host needs to do is to have a nice voice and be somewhat likable.

Ken Jennings becoming the permanent host is ideal, IMO.

He is young, likeable, legendary among the Jeopardy audience, and obviously knows his material so it won't be as hard for him to prepare for a taping as it would be for someone who doesn't know as much.

someone with Alex's looks, charisma, and work ethic is rare indeed. his devotion to accuracy and correct pronunciation as well.
