In Donkey Kong 64 I found a hidden pad under some tall grass. I think it gives you like...a coin or something?

Years later, someone in the speedrunning community found it and apparently totally fucked everyone's minds. That's about as close as I've come lol.

I honestly don't know, lol.

I feel like I'm one of the few people who actually "mastered" Superman 64 though. I was too young to realize the game was shit and I played it so much that I got used to its godawful unresponsive controls. Only beat it once though because I thought the final level was such a huge jump in difficulty.

I discovered the Wiggler scoring glitch in SMW on my own years before I'd heard anyone else mention it, but it's simple enough that I can't imagine it wasn't already discovered by plenty of others before that.

Probably got a record for most pepper in the dish when cooking in Beyond Two Souls. Spent a solid 10 minutes doing it because I was laughing hysterically.

I had the same thing happen, like a week or 2 after the game came out, years later people *just* find out about that coin and im like "was that a secret?"

Yeah. I was a big boggled when I started seeing random articles like this:
https://kotaku.com/donkey-kong-64-speedrunner-finds-hidden-coin-after-17-y-1791824680

Like, it's not even that hard to find. There had to have been tons of other kids who came across it. But it is sort of interesting, from a cultural perspective, how the population of kids who knew about the coin and the speedrunning community never really intersected before then. Makes me wonder what other secrets are known to some people that don't even know its special, that would blow our minds if we found out. >_>

Right, tho?! It's not like that stupid FF9 sidequest where you have to backtrack to Lindblum after you've reached the end of the game based on nothing but some throwaway NPC dialog. It's sitting right there. >_>

I found a secret formation of fighters in Macbeth (medium tank level) that requires you to destroy most of the tank then boost when the train track passes to the right to form a bridge that I've never heard of in Star Fox 64, but I don't follow records or anything so I don't know that I was the first.

I probably have the world record for most deaths in Sonic and The Black Knight. Somehow I was stuck on one boss battle for an entire year. I would quit it and play other games and then come back to it and I just couldnt get past it

I very likely hold the world record for the longest time taken to beat the Grand Prix level in F-Zero GX's Story Mode.

Not longest time being stuck on that level. Longest time actually racing in a single attempt. (something like 7 hours)

Just because of the implications that race time means, and the fact that nobody sane would keep the GC/Wii running for that long after accomplishing the feat(I'd left it running without pausing just so I could brag about it to my brother lol). In fact, there probably won't even be people who would have taken more than 4 minutes, considering even 3 minutes is normally a guaranteed Game Over.
