I have no stakes in Monster Hunter but this is so bad.

I'd just like to point out that "adaptation of a fantasy game inexplicably involves reality-displaced modern US military character" is literally what Uwe Boll did to Dungeon Siege. The Monster Hunter film is borrowing ideas from Uwe Boll.
