i haven't played hades but i figure it's more or less the same like bastion/transistor.
they are pretty good but aside from their fantastic presentation are nothing special. combat is ok, story is ok. just okay games with great graphics basically.

I thought Transistor had a pretty interesting combat system. In particular, the ability system was pretty cool with each attack having an active, upgrade, and passive effect depending which slot you equipped it in.

In spite of it's Transistor's overwhelmingly positive review & creative combat system, I couldn't really get into it and stopped after the 1st boss. But Hades looks really interesting.

I dont know if Id say terribly overrated, but of the two I played the presentation in both definitely pulled more than its own weight.

Nah. I do feel like Bastion's combat was good enough to take it further than they did, but it's a great game anyway. Transistor takes everything that made Bastion great and takes it a step further, and then Hades focuses squarely on the combat and pushes it as far as it can possibly go. The story elements and upgrade system there are just the icing.

Still need to play Pyre though. I have it on PC, but I don't really like playing games on the PC.

Bastion and Transistor are both really good games, just talking bare bones.
Their presentation and art are goddamned incredible though.

Never understood the point of telling other people they like something too much.

One of my favorite developers, have bought all of their games at least twice, have all the soundtracks but Hades, my phones background and screensaver have been Transitor images for like 6 years.

Bastion was good but was carried more on presentation than combat. Hades massively improved on both. I couldnt get into Transistor and I never even heard of Pyre until a few days ago.

Bastion just needs the ability to replay areas at will, and it'll move from pretty good to awesome.

I thought Bastion was good and Transistor was fantastic. I've actually been thinking about going back and playing Transistor again, I reinstalled it on steam a couple of weeks ago. The soundtrack for that game blew me away back when I first played it, I had no idea what I was going into and certainly didn't expect that.

Honestly, I think their games are consistently at least very good.

They frustrate me, because the games have all the ingredients to be great, but they're not refined enough to get there.

For all the toys in Bastion, you only get a handful of enemies, and a few of the toys make the rest irrelevant. There aren't enough scenarios to really get all you can out of what you have. Give me a reason to use things, give me a reason to try!

Pyre's lore and worldbuilding is actually their best so far. I mean, maybe Hades is, but that's cheating since it's an already established mythology.
