I have heard people talk about the sex narration and it didn't land on me like that, but I suppose I get it. I guess after so long with him with the Winter Mantle it's going to be 'Dresden is going to Dresden' and when it is inappropriate he usually does a good job of going 'fuck, fuck, fuck' which amuses me.

I felt like there was a lot of politics at play throughout the book though! White Council Politics, family politics for Dresden, having to trick former allies to save his brother and letting the count of monte CRISTO hang himself with his own ambitions. Also as soon as it said that the Fomor King had requested it I knew something was up, it didn't make any sense.

I can understand why people wouldn't like this as a stand alone as it is clearly a 1-2 punch with Battleground but getting 340 pages of Dresden and then more 2 months later after a six year drought will make me forgive a lot.

On its own though I really liked a lot of the plot elements introduced and how they keep making Harry just more scary and firm up his alliances while shattering some of them as well. Also a lot of hints as to where the shit can potentially hit the fan. One of my end game guesses is that Alfred is going to betray Harry.

I wish that Lara didn't get so pissed off at the end because she and Harry are definitely my number one ship tbqh. She got even more humanized this book

I think they will be fine, to be honest. Harry is too wholesome for his own good.

Also Karrin x Valk is my # 1 ship now.

Finally had a chance to sit down and read this one.

Definitely not used to a Dresden book ending with such little resolution.

Doesn't feel like betrayal will be necessary for wherever this is heading. Harry has multiple forces with a grip on his subconscious.

My general opinion is I liked having more Dresden but this was a bottom tier book.
