picked it up cause its on sale for 14 bucks. every time this game gets mentioned all i ever hear is people saying it sucks and the story/characters are cringey.

im at least a dozen or so hours in to it so far and ive been having a lot of fun with it. its pretty much up to the same quality as most sony exclusives. and i actually think the main characters performance is really good as well as a couple of the supporting characters.

basically i think this game gets a lot of undeserved hate and its a shame that a game of such high quality gets over looked. and lets face facts people, most video game stories are garbage. i think this one in comparison is pretty good even if it is just another zombie apocalypse. im enjoying the world and my time in it.

and its not as edgelord as it seems. not at all. trust me because i honestly was worried about it. sure they say fuck a lot but if that bothers you idk what to tell ya. game actually has some heart.

gameplay is fun as hell man. typical third person shooter controls i guess but ammo is limited and hordes are huge so you usually want to take a stealthier approach but if all else fails spray, pray, and run for your fuckin life lol its honestly an adrenaline rush every time.

and yes, there is leveling up both your skills, your motorcycle, and completing missions for different camps will increase your status with said camp allowing you to buy better upgrades so theres tons of progression but not too much that its over bearing just enough

I lost interest in the opening where it sets you up for this crazy escape from the rooftop of the building only for it to cut out to way in the future and the person you saved died off screen IIRC

i have a different experience, most people saying its mediocre at best. which i guess on some peoples scale is a 7.5, but i was hearing more in the 6 range which i find to be too low

I have to play it as chunks because the gameplay is fun but there isn't much to it. I just noticed the "challenge" section last time I played tho. Those add some fun when you don't feel like having downtime.

I tend to enjoy games other people hated. I thought Agents of Mayhem was awesome, and Unity is one of my favorite AC games. Tbqh I thought Days Gone looked cool

usually dont follow ign so im not aware of what youre referencing

in my younger days i was more of a gamespot kid but now i usually stick to youtube channels like easy allies. they gave the game a 7.5 tho

thats lame as hell. i saw the ass scene but not the ride me one yet. the ads scene was certainly nothing to scoff at tho unless you are just like a straight up prude or something i guess

Same. Even when I was in the middle of it loving my time, I was understanding why it would be niche. Then again, It kind of just hit me at the right time. Years ago, I would probably not of liked it.

Having not read the topic, the game is pretty great tbh. I think I got the platinum for the game. Not sure if I'll get into the NG+, extra difficulties, or the arcade mode they added for free though.

Be mindful that this game has had a ton of technical issues fixed since release. The game used to run like ass lol.

Another issue is most reviewers didn't even finish the game, but still most people took it to mean the game was crap.

That's not to say some reviewers didn't have valid concerns and criticisms. When it launched it had some bad framerates drops in certain areas and textures not loading properly, if they loaded at all.

Just mentioning since that's a big reason this game got hate near launch.

Additionally, this have had that "anti reviewer" bias. Open world games with this sort of structure bored reviewers by the time it hit because of how many games come out with a very similar structure. Think of how many games have a similar open world structure since Far Cry 3, and most critics will have played most of them.

The average gamer doesn't play games as a job though.

Also, why does anyone care about aggregate reviews? Just find a reviewer whose tastes align with yours the most and see what they have to say.
