...has cemented it for me: Prequel Trilogy > Sequel Trilogy. It's not even close anymore. Never saw this fight in the way Filoni so eloquently explains it.

Yes, it's the peak of the prequel trilogy but that doesn't make the rest of it not suck as a whole.

The peak for me before watching this was Episode 3, but the prequels is just a half of the real story of Star Wars (1-6). Some of it was kinda boring cause it was political and whatnot, Jar Jar was annoying yeah, but looking at retrospectively, it made sense and that's enough for me. Sequel Trilogy left a bad taste, it was entertaining sure but it doesn't hold any value in the grand scheme of things. Fire Kennedy and give Filoni her job.

The prequel trilogy definitively stomps the sequels for one reason. It has a coherent story it wants to tell, and does it. To hell with the rest of it.

The sequels were:

A movie that if it wasn't a star wars movie would have been called a rip off of the original star wars.

A filler movie that seemingly deliberately ruined the magic of the series.

A movie without a fucking plot because it was just a quest to find the thing to find the thing to find the thing to find the place to best the bad guy.

I will still watch whatever star were movie comes next, but I might never watch the sequel trilogy again. I feel like none of them is a good standalone movie besides maybe the first, and the others are so disconnected that it barely functions as a trilogy.

100% agree. I have a roommate who is a big Star Wars fan, but he is a blind fanboy and we get into about the sequel trilogy which he still says from day 1 that he enjoyed. To each their own, but his girlfriend pretty much agrees with him on everything and doesnt have her own voice so its me vs them, its infuriating sometimes lol.

Been seeing this take today because this video went viral, and really am not looking forward to all the takes of Sequels > Prequels because of one halfway decent scene explanation. These movies are terrible, and I say that as someone who literally only likes 1 out of all 6 of these non original movies, and even of the original only likes 2 of them.

I have a hard time enjoying the ST as a trilogy because its so disjointed.

Why they allowed all 3 to be made independently instead of having a unifying vision I can't contemplate.

I guess they tried to apply the Marvel philosophy to Star Wars without realizing that a trilogy has to actually be a trilogy.

They also probably figured that since the OT didn't have an original plan they could pull it off the same way.

Uhhh but they forgot that back then this shit was brand new and Lucas had no idea if it would even succeed. Disney already planned for a trilogy though, yet they thought they would have more success just throwing shit out there and then forming the next plot off of the public's reactions.

I don't, I mean I can't, I just, like what, how the fuck do you not plan out your trilogy at all it's so baffling

It doesn't have to be though? You could have just talked about the clip and the prequels without saying anything about the sequels.

So I can't make a topic about it if I wanted to because it's unnecessary in your eyes? I wanted to share the clip of Filoni, if my opinion on the prequel vs. sequel debate turned you off, oh well, sorry not sorry.

Because how he explained that scene gave more meaning to what the prequels were about and also the original trilogy, atleast for me. The sequels were going to inevitably be brought up anyway, which I embrace in a discussion because like it or not, it's canon and a part of Star Wars.

Okay, but like, if you guys were going to talk about the video, you'd have done it for now.

Everyone talking about it being a prequel vs sequel topic is contributing to that more than not.

I've always felt that, aside from Anakin's dialogue, the back thirty minutes of Phantom Menace are really worthy of this sort of deeper dive, even if it's just on a narrative pacing level. The Battle of Naboo has a lot of intricacy, and it required a lot of careful timing to crescendo four separate theaters of combat together in synchronicity. Filoni really does a great job of adding that layer to the saber sequence too. Awesome video, thanks for sharing it!
