Board 8 > Star Wars trilogies

Last time I made this was before 9 came out so now that theyre all out I figured Id make it again so it has more credibility

Picked OT > ST > PT but I find it funny that the best movie in each trilogy is different ordered.

OT and ST both have the same makeup - first movie is good, second is great, third is whatever. I'd take TLJ over ESB but the other two OT movies over the ST movies. Think I'll give the edge to ST just for having a higher high.

PT is bad all the way down.

PT and ST are both bad in such different ways that it's difficult for me to rank them, and the OT is so much better.

It's like ranking 1000, 0.0333331, and 0.0333332

As long as I ignore Rise of Skywalker and only count the first two movies then the ST is pretty solid.

Two good movies with one bad movie vs three bad movies hmm I wonder

PT has episode 3 which i legitimately like, episode 2 which literally sucks shit, and episode 1 which at least has darth maul and obi wan and qui gon

ST has episode 7 which is just ok, episode 8 which is ABSOLUTE SHIT, and episode 9 which i haven't watched but lol

Having finally seen 9 recently I can rank them all

V > VI > III > IV > II > I > VII > IX > VIII

Pretty obvious how Id rank the trilogies. ST was a disaster overall.

I probably go:
6 > 5 > 8 > 7 > 4 > 3 > 9 > 1 > 2

So OT > ST > PT overall, but it's been a few years since I've watched the OT.

Empire Strikes Back is good, The Last Jedi is good if messy. Phantom Menace is very nostalgic and cosy for me but I realize that it's not a great film objectively. Don't really care for the rest. Am yet to watch The Rise of Skywalker.

Rogue One might be top 3.

I probably PT > ST simply because I have more attachment to its universe/characters whereas I don't have a single lick of interest in anything ST, but it really doesn't matter to order them since I don't even like PT either

Rogue One would be between V and VII, Solo between VII and VI.

For me RO and Solo would be between IV and II with RO > Solo. RO was great. Shame none of the other movies made after Episode 3 could be that good

Even if I wasn't upset at what they did to the characters of that movie, it is overall a horrible, horrible movie.

If it was called Space Fight instead of Star Wars everyone in the world would hate it, but for some reason people have to defend that trash bag of a movie.

The PT at least knows what story it's trying to tell. The execution is just poor. The ST on the other hand has no clue what it's doing and just feels generic the whole time.

I mean some of it for sure, but the hate is very well deserved IMO. Again, even if you take the fandom out of it, the movie itself is the problem.

there is quite possibly more written criticism about the last jedi than any other movie in existence

if you are genuinely curious about what people see in it, you aren't lacking for content

OT > ST > PT very easily.

I haven't seen episode 9 yet but I can't imagine it being bad enough to make up for how bad 1 and 2 are. In theory if it were really good it could turn OT vs ST into a contest for me but it uh doesn't sound very good.

The sequel trilogy is such a steaming pile of shit, that any option with it not at the bottom is automatically wrong. Even the abysmal PT had at least some redeeming qualities.
