-Went to some neighborhoods for the first time
-Found some great eateries and restaurants
-Started going to some interesting places that just opened up (Hudson Yards Mall, Domino Park)
-Commissioned an artist to do an artwork for the first time
-Saw a show of artist John Singer Sargent, with drawings that either haven't been seen in 100 years or have never been seen by the public
-Started going to more meetups (only went to 3 in the previous 3 years)

2019 was a quiet year for me. Went out east for a week to visit relatives, moved over to my current position at work, and started HIIT. Not much happened beyond that other than the norm.

2019 was a pretty bland year. It was mostly me working at my job and finishing up grad school (I finish in June 2020).

I got to visit Palm Desert, CA in February but I've been there lots of other times and even spent my year off from college there. I also visited my dad in Georgetown, KY (it's near Lexington). I've been there before but this was the most time I've ever spent there at once.

Besides that nothing that exciting happened.

Best experience was definitely attending a music festival where I saw bands that my highschool self thought I'd never see in my life.

I went to A Varning from Montreal Festival. AKA Varning Fest.

It's an annual 3 night punk/d-beat/crust fest in Montreal.

That sounds pretty cool. I've lost a good friend to suicide and the worst part about it was that it came out of nowhere. He never talked about it or even hinted at what he was going through.

yeah, we get a lot of that from people who have been affected by suicide. it sucks because a lot of guys have grown up not being able to talk about how they feel or bottle up their emotions coz it's seen as 'unmasculine'

it's even more sad because some of the suicides are attributed to losing a job, relationship break ups, poor mental health and other issues that a lot of other men face that could be easier if they opened up and spoke to other ppl about. but in their minds, the only way out for some men is to kill themselves which i feel bad about

i read a statistic that suicide is the biggest cause of death for men under 40 in the UK. i'm sure it's the same for the US and most other western countries. and that alone made me sign up to be a charity volunteer

I really respect that. I lost a friend to suicide the other year. Things did seem tough for her in the years that I had known her, she then lost a lot of weight and was looking sickly but looked and sounded much better the last time I saw her. I found out about her death 4 weeks after that.

sorry to hear that man :(

i'm very lucky that suicide hasn't affected any friends or family of mine. but it's surprising how many people have been affected or knew someone fairly close

It was a decent year.
My three biggest highlights are:
Road Tripped Ecuador,
Finished eriting/editing my first novel, and
Played the final show with my band of 13 years.

The last one was kinda bitter sweet, but whatevs.

It's just weird connecting words on a page that you've seen for years to real people, especially on a board like this where people say weird and silly things. At least with other people from the internet who I meet, for modeling for example, I meet them within a day or two.

Yeah, that's fair enough. For the most part I don't even bother mentally putting a face to the usernames on here. Majority of you are Americans anyway, so it's not like I'd knowingly meet you in person unless I went out of my way to.

I'd prefer not putting a face on these people, though I'm sure most of you are fine in real life.
