Watching the Japanese version and I immediately noticed there was no mention of "chocolate sauce" flooding the world's deserts.

Like, I was 9 when the show came out so I understood what they were saying, but it just never occurred to me that they were supposed to be funny. I took all that shit seriously lol.

Like, at the end when they're fighting Apocalymon, I remember he said "I am complete with hot and cold water!" And as a kid, I was just like, "what's the significance of the hot and cold water?" After he was going on about being this collective of dead data, I figured it was some deep metaphorical thing, like, maybe referencing the River Styx or something. But nope, I guess the dub writers were just taking time out of the dramatic finale to make fun of the red and blue tubes coming out of his crotch. >_>

Gonna see where this goes. The lack of the Saban score is kind of jarring at first, but so far I'm digging the more understated background music.

In the original, Apocalymon was talking about the pain of being made of all the Digimon who died in the evolution process.

In the dub, he's screaming about pizza crust.

I mean, he definitely did explain that in the dub. As a kid my mind was pretty blown to see such a dark, abstract concept for a villain.

But, yeah, the pizza crust stuff too. Which, again, nine-year-old me took as a completely tonally appropriate metaphor. >_>

Adventure was pretty tame on added jokes compared to 02. That dub had a joke like, every other line. >.>

Gosh, I had no idea just how bad Digimon: The Movie was until after I watched it again after seeing the original movies it spliced together. If I saw that scene of Davis crying and then being fine because Willis told him to "get over it" today...

But when I was young I just laughed. It was one of the hypest movies of my childhood.
