Happens with side characters, especially ones that are unusual, nerdy, quirky.

Theyll meet someone who just so happens to be the exact same character, but the opposite sex. They have all the same obsessions (ie. Harry Potter or Star Wars or whatever) the same quirks (ie. eating weird or exotic food that the rest of the main cast hates), and all the same kinks.

It just seems like a lazy way to write a happy ending for someone. See, they found someone too!

Bonus points if it happens before the end of the show/story and the side character is trapped in the worlds most boring, dead end romance sub plot but you cant abort it because as dumb as it is, the characters are happy now and it would be more work to find some contrived way to split them up than just ignoring them. >_>

i don't like that particular trope in movies because it glosses over how often opposites or just plain different people attract
which is surprisingly A LOT in real life...
