It's the Daily Show Defense wherein the show clearly makes (or, well, once made) a serious critical impact on our culture, but any time the show itself is the subject of criticism, its fanbase responds with 'it's just a comedy show dude.' It's rarely the media creators themselves making this play, just the fanbase; good comedians at least inwardly hope that their work is revelatory on some level.

In short, if you've ever had a CinemaSins or similar comedy-critique show in any way sour your opinion on the movie / show it's critiquing (as in 'wow, now that he's pointed that out, I can't unsee it'), then it has gone beyond simply being silly pay-no-mind satire.

Yeah. I get why they did it but it could have been done a lot better.

You have all these women coming to help the one woman who could probably solo 90% of the enemy army. She didn't need help from anyone.

They could've had one of the weaker female characters in a dire situation, then have the others slowly show up, then have them all start getting pinned down and then Carol shows up to wipe out the bad guys and then they all charge together.

They're simultaneously not critics, not satire, and not funny

And they frequently don't understand BASIC shit about movies, or follow anything the movie is trying to tell them.

It's not so much they're awful at everything they do (which is true) my thing is that they're teaching generations of people how to not understand movies.

There's loads more moments with girls owning in the movies that didn't feel forced...

sw as she entered the battle in IW saving the other 2 women and killing a bunch bad guys

Okoye and her squad vs killmonger

Okoye and the car chase scene

All these didn't feel forced...they were just natural parts of the movies. If the camera panned to all the guys just standing there that will feel forced to. Was a bad scene my guy

Again, try and tell me that something like (classic) Daily Show should be completely disregarded from having a serious impact simply because it delivers its material in a comedic fashion. No, Zero Punctuation should not be your first and last voice when it comes to game reviews, same way the Daily Show should not be your only political news source. However, one would have to be particularly obtuse to believe that the creators of all this content aren't attempting (and often succeeding) to bury a serious critical undertone beneath the veil of sarcasm and dick jokes.
