My diet has been awful with too many processed foods, but I'm going to start consuming more whole grains, fruits, vegetables and nuts.

I have. My diet was pretty decent to begin with, but I dialed back on calories and meat a little bit.

I bought a book back in February and went mostly keto. My reasons for it were because my family has a history of diabetic problems and other health problems. I say mostly because now and then Ill drink beer. I stick to mostly low balling the carbs and keeping the sugar and vegetable oils to as close to zero as I can. Ive dropped 20 lbs+ and have kept the weight off.

I'd talk to a nutritionist before you think about doing keto long-term. You can fuck up your kidneys or develop permanent rashes.

Im the best physically shaped/fit person in my family because of this tweak. Ive also had acne decreased dramatically lol. It works for me personally.

Didn't say there weren't benefits, just you might want to talk to a professional before you make long term health choices based on a "book."

No skin off my ass either way.

Professionals can also have biases and agendas tho. Id say him physically feeling good is the best indicator. Doctors have recommended stuff that would of harmed people, had they not listened to their bodies instead. Im not trying to attack doctors profession either. They're just also humans that are capable of errors and limited information. That's why the list of things that are good and bad for you seem to be forever changing. Things are constantly being discovered. Trust your own body if it seems to be leading you the right way. Just don't get stuck in any denial phases if it changes on you.

And I know people are gonna say "sometimes people feel fine and then drop dead". Life is unpredictable. Nothing is 100% gonna guarantee you to live longer. Doctors don't slap a guarantee on their treatment before sending you home.

Probably my worst year ever tbqh

Very stressful job + increased hours at that job leave me very unmotivated to cook so I've been eating out a fuck ton.

Don't disagree, but keto is a fad diet like any other. What usually happens when the fad wears off and a few years pass? We find out how many people fucked up their bodies by listening to self-help instead of science. I'm willing to bet that book he bought has a disclaimer somewhere about consulting a health professional so readers can't sue.

yeah I cut out animal products almost entirely and I eat a lot more whole grains and vegetables. I've avoided oil and processed foods as much as I can. I've gained a lot of energy at the gym and am in the best shape of my life. clean food really does help

Breakfast is either oatmeal with chia seeds and fruit, or toast with something like hummus or peanut butter. I use almond milk for the oats. lunch is usually a smoothie with fruit and plant based protein powder. dinner can be anything but I always try to have steamed or roasted or stir fried vegetables. I usually just make a batch 2 times a week to have some for other days

Oh also I use quinoa instead of rice 90% of the time unless i miss rice and wanna try it. I don't eat white bread and eat whole grain exclusively. Only white starch I eat at any noticeable amount are potatoes but I try not to have too many. Sweet potatoes are great tho

I learned I was mildly allergic to peaches and stopped eating them so I guess that's an improvement in a sense

really though I don't feel like my diet changed in any significant way which makes sense since I didn't particularly try to change it either
