Did you have an NES?

What are your memories of the NES? Which NES games are your favorites?

Previously:
85 percent of voters had a PS1
84 percent had a DS
72 percent had a Genesis
59 percent had an Xbox

dang I missed the PS1?

NES, I mean what is there to say. The very first video game I remember playing was Rush'n Attack for the NES. I probably played stuff before that but I distinctly remember that game

Yeah, but only long after the fact. The NES was my first exposure to video games: when I was a little kid, I would always look forward to visiting my cousins so I could play Mario.

had an NES, first game console I ever played. pretty sure all my first gaming memories are playing things like LoZ1 with my dad, I still have the original map we drew of the overworld when looking for level 7 second quest somewhere

years later my dad also set me up with a bunch of NES games on another system, if you get my drift. And by a bunch I mean nearly 100 of them. This was when I first learned that there are some video games which are indeed just plain bad

I was much too young for the NES, but it's been very easy to play those games along the way if you've had Nintendo platforms. SMB3 is great

I'm a bit too young for the NES, too. I was born in very late 1989. Wut we still primarily had an NES and even the 2600 when I was very young. We never got a Genesis and we didn't get an SNES until after the Super Mario All-Stars bundle was released, which looking it up was mid-1993 and we didn't get it when it was new. Like I remember playing some of the late NES releases like Kirby just because the NES was all I had

my first exposure was an atari 2800. but I remember my first time seeing the NES at a friend of my brother's house. he had just gotten a NES. and I think I watched him play Commando or Ikari Warriors or whatever it was called. and it looked very high tech compared to the atari and blew my mind

The earliest games I remember were Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, and Bayou Billy. I remember having to put that pink cleaner cartridge kit in the NES when the games wouldn't play:

I remember the TMNT game.

I remember goung to my neighbor's house and they had this gold Zelda game cartridge. They also had this NHL game where it went to a new screen where you can fight.

I had played a little bit of the Atari 2600 at friend's house, but the NES was the first game system that my family had. So many good memories. A few that really stick out:

- Nearly passing out on the Track & Field mat

- Getting TMNT 2: The Arcade Game for Christmas. I loved the shit out of that game.

- Racing my sister home from school to get to the system first

- My mom getting super addicted to Milon's Secret Castle. To this day, I think it's the only video game she has ever played. I remember waking up in the middle of the night on multiple occasions and my mom would be sitting on my bedroom floor trying to beat this damn game.

It's a shame the sequel never got localized outside the Wii VC.

I still have what was originally my mother's NES.

My favorite memories are playing Super Mario Bros. 3 with her and watching her play the original Legend of Zelda. We never beat SMB3, but she did beat Zelda. I probably wouldn't be a gamer if not for her.

I have a lot of favorite games for the system, but they're mostly the popular and obvious choices. My lesser known choice is Jackal. Excellent co-op fun.

Still have mine. Back in the day I replaced the 72-pin connector and clipped Pin 4, but it still works like a champ.

I'm under 30 and I had an NES. You know that they still sold them into the early 90s, right? It's like how you could still buy a Wii, PS3, or 360 for relatively cheap even after their successors came out.

I kinda missed that whole era.

Played most of the major games via re-releases on other consoles.

I did eventually buy an NES at an estate sale when I was like 10 but my mom made me throw it out because the dude who owned it was a hoarder and it was caked in mold n dirt n stuff.
