I thought it was sweet. It at least had a full conclusion and showed you the lives of the characters after their last hurrah. It made them feel more real as people than your traditional "here's our final moment together" scene since we all know that reunions can happen.

Better than making an annoying open-ended, cliffhanger ending like many long-running shows like to do.

That's one of the worst parts, it literally answers everything there is to know about each character.

You say that like it's a bad thing

This isn't the Sopranos. We don't need any vague-ass noise. It's an NBC sitcom.

Plus everyone gets this weirdly perfect storybook happy ending. Like, I don't want characters to have a shitty life, but when everybody gets exactly what they want more or less all at once it just feels off.

That's another big one, it's all too perfect. I was actually excited when Tom lost his restaurant business but then he just writes a book that sells millions.

I don't understand why you'd be surprised that everyone gets a happy ending. Parks and Rec isn't exactly a depressing series. It's not going to end with, "Tom was murdered by the Pawnee Slayer. Ben and Leslie were killed in a terrorist attack at a political rally. Jerry dies from undiagnosed mumps. Despite treating herself to chemotherapy, Donna lost her battle against stomach cancer."

I can see why people don't like that the show has such a clean ending. But for the type of show that it is, I think it fits. Parks and Rec was always a positive show. I would have been more pissed if they pulled a How I Met Your Mother and completely changed the tone that the series was known for.

That's also what I hated so much about Chuck. The show was overall so positive, and every season finale was heartwarming. Then the actual series finale leaves an unnecessary cliffhanger that robs you of you of the same fuzziness of every other season finale.

Call me a romantic, but I want my positive shows to have a positive ending. Leave the ambiguous/realistic endings to shows like Lost or Prison Break.

Like I said, it doesn't have to be so Doom and Gloom. Look at the finale to the office. Andy doesn't succeed but he still gets a silver lining. Creed gets arrested which is completely in character. There are still little bits of drama and imperfection in what otherwise is a happy ending, which I think gives it more depth.

You don't need to change the tone of the series. For example, having Tom's Restaurant fail but rather than have him become rich writing a book have him show that he learned his lesson from all of the earlier seasons. Rather than get depressed like he used to, have him say that the restaurant taught him a lot of valuable lessons and he has some new ideas that he thinks will be even more successful. Have a scene with jean-ralphio's entire family on the Maury Show screaming at each other because they have gone broke or something like that.

The season isn't the best but it ended as heart warming as it should have. The show is about perseverance and being the best you can for little to no gain. Of course it had to end like that, with everyone getting the futures they deserve.

Also, the pie baking episode is fucking hilarious.

Very much so. That's when they fully ruin Andy's character and Nellie still exists. The last portion of 8 / beginning of 9 is truly the low point.

I didn't mind Robert California, he made me laugh a lot. They also made Andy pretty sympathetic before they completely butchered him with Erin.

Exactly. I also hated Plop, he was no Jim. Plus, the Brian arc was horrible.

Robert California is legitimately a top-tier Office character.

I also like Nellie though. Last couple seasons had a lot of problems, I just don't think she was one of them.
