my brain has been stuck in a loop for close to an hour. My brain physically feels as if theres a wrong connection inside, as if I cant do anything.

breathing helps if I can remember to.

see, what happens is, an intrusive thought plays in my brain. For me, I pretty much freeze while its there. As long as Im dealing with it, I find that I instinctively hold my breath.

its a catch 22. Holding my breath lets me focus on the intrusive thoughts, and handling them makes me feel better. But the more I focus on them the worse it gets.

forcing myself to breath pushes the thoughts further away, but increases my anxiety because its more difficult to focus on my compulsions that make me feel better.

anyways, no other point to this topic than to vent.

I have some bipolar/mood disorder (diagnosed) which is causing me to have chronic insomnia. A lot of it is similar to what you've described... brain won't turn off, gets in your head. Can be up until 3 or 4 am because you're thinking about falling asleep

I'd recommend talking to a psychiatrist. They can help you, put you on low dose sleep aids or help you with your issues in general .
