It looks like a proper sequel yes. Just watched a review, still has the general class-based shooter feel to it (though without class restrictions so everyone can choose the same character on a team). I own the game on Xbox. They basically tried to turn GW2 into Overwatch. The performance is really bad in split screen (I play with my wife) and when the frame rates drop the game goes to shit.
