I hope I can figure a way to get out of it as im supposed to be starting basic training for a job soon and everyone tells me they wont accept that as an excuse despite the academy is going to be out of town.

I havent started the job yet and I need money... It will at the very least cause me to have to wait anothet month or two before i can start these academies dont run all year and you HAVE to have it before starting

Ive been told they wont take that as an excuse. My only hope i know of is telling them the job I am starting is a corrections officer. Dunno if it will work because i havent started yet but ive heard they tend to let thrm go cause working in such a place tends to give people a negative bias on criminals and also become the type of person to expect the worst of people and more likely to say guilty because of it.

I hate getting the notices but I dont work so I cant really complain about it

just got one recently but Ive moved out of the city so it seems like that will disqualify me

My brother got called in for one in another city. He ended up getting out of it bit they still made him appear that first day.

Him using our moms place as a mailing address bit him in the ass. But he only did that cause his neighbors where known to steal mail/packages

Im thinking about mailing that paper back in claiming i dont have any transportation. Ive been told they dont accapet that either but its the one thing i can think of where im technically not lying. My truck legally isnt in my name. It was given to me but never signed over.

Jury duty is a joke, can't believe people get excited for it. I've gotten out of 3/3 of them so far, wish they'd quit trying to summon me. Clowns won't learn.

The American jury system seems so silly. Like, I wouldn't want a group of random citizens, most of whom probably don't want to be there, to judge whether I'm innocent or guilty or not. I definitely don't trust the intellectual capacity or judgement of the random person to do that.

When I was active, I didnt have to do it. When I went reserve, they sent me a notice...

My mom is a cop, and recently a Crisis Intervention Officer. But I still got called for it. Maybe thats true, but you may have to be in the same area as them...

My brother is a CO and my mom was. It is the main reason im going in.(other than needing a decent job for once) A lot of the habits my mom picked up due to the line of work rubbed off on me so i figure I wont do that bad at it.

I think its more of a if they find out like if you bring it up during the selection process. I want to get out of it before then though in case I get the call amd have to be elsewhere that day. When you go to Academy it at a minimum a hour away can be up to 4 hours a way and its Monday through Friday 6-6 so being able to swing both would be impossible.

You can ask to be tried by the judge. Or rather waive your right to a jury.

The idea sounds good on paper. But nothing is perfect.
