Making "plans" to get out of neetdom or at least be somewhat productive, but never following through

Long time lurker here.

There are neets who love and embrace the neet lifestyle, there are others who don't.

For awhile I was in the first category, I really felt blessed for having free time and valued it heavily.

But now it's getting to the point where I feel like my brain is starting to melt... I can't describe but I just feel bad all the time. Bored maybe.

For the last few months I've wrote down some goals. The biggest one would be applying to jobs, but it's mostly smaller things like do some studying on topics I'm interested in, edit some videos for fun, download some new music, read a book, go to therapy, whatever. Just things to keep me feeling somewhat occupied and productive.

But every day has been the exact same. I wake up, drink coffee around 10 am, think about all the things I want / need to do, go on and start clicking around the internet, click reddit / youtube and then mindlesslesly browse, the minute it gets dark I smoke weed and then continue doing the same shit til I pass out. Every day on repeat for weeks and weeks and weeks. I haven't applied to a single job. I haven't edited a single video, I haven't done anything really. I have actually reached out to a few therapists but no one will call back. Even last year I went to my primary care physician for a referral and that therapist never got back to me either.

I just can't explain the way it feels. My brain just feels like mush by the end of every day. I feel gross, and my years of youth are just slipping by this way. Maybe I have an internet addiction. I'm just so fucking bored, and the things is that there is literally NOTHING stopping me from achieving these easy small goals. like what the fuck

This is a big problem. It's difficult to pull yourself out of a slump if you don't have the support you need.

My NEET roommate actually just started a job with a restaurant last weekend. He'll be washing dishes. He can barely handle putting dishes in the dishwasher at the apartment, even though he has plenty of energy to swear at video games all day. This won't last long lol

You'd be surprised at what having responsibilities and having a paycheque as motivation can do for your soul. Having a sense of purpose is what creates energy.

What the hell is NEET?

I don't know what these things are anymore. They're all made up online terms I can't keep up with.
My generation just called people assholes if they were assholes. Lazy if they were lazy. Full of shit if they're full of shit. Momma's boys, conceited, a couple other words that are banned by the PC police these days. Etc. Called it all like it was. I liked it better than way.

It's a subculture that entails the following:

- Not employed or in school. I'm not talking about summer break or in between jobs either - this is years on end of doing literally nothing with your life

- Probably a high school or college drop out

- No skills or ability

- Maybe had a job at one point doing manual labor that they were fired from after 2 weeks

- No employment prospects

- Any attempts at further education surely ending in failure

- Sit at home and play video games and watch anime all day

- Chicken tendies

See why one word can't do this justice?

From personal experience, setting up a first time appointment with a mental health specialist is excruciatingly difficult. And once you do find someone who can pencil you in, its likely youll end up having to bounce around to other ones until you find somebody who can actually help.

I spent the better part of six months in high school before I found someone who could help with my OCD
