Yea, this show is great

but I don't think I got most of the jokes in the early seasons. I saw them ages ago

so this has been almost like discovering it for the first time

also being from Texas, part of the joy is them making local references and them going to Southern Businesses like Whataburger and Luby's

Alright, So this the main reason why I made this topic:

I've always hated Peggy

most people do (except smartmuffin and palmer)

but rewatching the show

I think BILL has overtaken that spot for me.

Peggy's ..well, bullshit, is alot more constant

but Bill's is SO MUCH MORE Cringe worthy. I legitimately had to skip two episodes because I can't stand them (The one where Bill acts like Santa and the one where he was incharge of the safety shelter)

I used to not like Dale. But hes pretty good. I think I just don't like how they flanderized him and made him super crazy. Him being a conspirator, but more calm and reserved was funnier to me. I still don't like how he betrays Hank at the drop of his hat and makes his life hell though

Kahn and Cotton are was great as ever

another thing I wanted to point out is that, for at least 3/5 of the show's run, is that the show contains ALOT of development and backstory that they actually maintain

I guess I'm used to simpsons where they retcon shit everything all of the time

but They've mentioned several times that Hank was a pants salesman before he worked in propane, and even show a flashback to it

there are several examples like this

but unfortunately they are also several examples of Plot Holes and retcons as well

probably kept getting new writers. but yea, again, not as much as the simpsons

They showed the Fire Station Chief on the background in an early season, and then the Rashomon Firefighter episode, he came back

but yea, good stuff man

I think it's around season 7 that Mike Judge and Greg Daniels stopped working much on the show (aside from Judge voicing characters) and that's when a lot of the subplots stopped happening and episodes start retconning early stuff. Fox didn't want the show to have a continuous plot or character development and it was basically just Judge and Daniels fighting to keep that stuff in, so once they weren't running the show a lot of that was lost.

I always liked Peggy and didnt know people hated her til toxic exposure to the fan base. Sure shes a dick but its hilarious just like characters people like.

Easily bottom 5 episode for me.

My least favorite characters are pretty much Peggy, Bill, and sometimes Luanne (at least early on, she got better throughout the series).

I have S1-12 on DVD. Want 13 but the price doesn't warrant purchase and the price I want it at, Nobody's willing to part with it at CEX.

S11-12 do have some WTF eps that really undo character backstories but still solid.

The worst character is probably Buck, because he's blatantly awful, and yet Hank practically idolizes the guy.

Sometimes production of an episode gets delayed for some reason while other episodes further down the pipeline are ready, so the network just makes you air the later one even if its out of order. Sometimes in DVD collections and streaming they will correct the order to the intended one, but sometimes they dont.

to be fair, this was his initial settlement

and he was a directionless man living in the moment at the time

He bucked up and became much more responsible when he got with Luanne.
Come to find out, Luanne is MUCH worse with money. She wanted 24k gold wedding cakes and have celebrities perform at their service

when he got his 2nd settlement, hes the one that opted to have a small wedding and use most of the money for a down payment on a house

I watched both Series Finales

the first one being Luanne's wedding

SO many returning characters coming back, even Junichiro!

and the 2nd one being the meat episode

"This is the final one, dad"

them revealing Boomhauer's occupation A fucking Texas Ranger

I liked the last season because they threw Hank some bones

He got a rematch against the state team he lost to when he was young
and won

and after some Shenanigans, Strickland got Hank into the "hall of flame", which is implied that only the business owners can get into it, the highest honor to Propane.
Hank:"This is my superbowl"

The episodes that left a sour taste in my mouth in the back half of the series were Hank's Bully (that kid is what happens when you ENABLE) and the one where Hoyt (initially written as a sympathetic character in comparison to Leanne) returns and stitches Lucky up for a crime.

They TRY to retcon Hoyt into a criminal instead of being on an Oil rig

but they forgot that in the thanksgiving episode, Luanne was supposed to go see him, he was very clearly in the outside world.
