Completely different insect, though a warp's nest Pokemon would be pretty cool.

Unless that's what Vespiqueen is.

i checked it out pretty close every time i got the mail for the last 3-ish weeks and i didn't see any activity at all. the one day i came home and a giant chunk was missing out of it and i saw a rock in my front yard, so im guessing some neighborhood kids were having fun. with a hole that big in the nest and still no activity i was pretty sure everything was dead. i was out raking leaves over the weekend and also had my ladder out to clean the gutters and decided it was time. i hit it with the rake a few times and waited a few minutes and still no activity, so i just got on my ladder and used some garden clippers on the branch it was attached to

the only tree in the entire thing is the branch they started from, which you can see in the first picture.

the rest of it is hornet spit

they have to learn the truth about what happened, these hornets tormented you for the past year and they had to go. those bastards won't ever sting again.

idk man, something about having that hive in my yard made me sorta feel protective about it. i avoided taking it down not because of the money, but because i woulda felt like an asshole if i just slaughtered an entire colony of those animals who did nothing to me.

Not advisable if you ever need to do it again. Hornet killer would be best. Spray at a distance and wear protective clothing.

Apparently that's how they do things. The nests are only used for about a year, most of them die in the winter and the fertile females start new nests once things warm up.

i spent ~3 weeks looking at it nearly every day and i didn't see any activity during that time which is why i felt comfortable whacking it with a rake
