The women are clearly not happy with the arrangement and it's not like some kinky free love thing but he legitimately has multiple families with each woman and each family lives in an individual house and he rotates between them.

Also apparently they think they are "closer to god" the more children they have (which means they are literally more god like when they have a ton of kids).

Yup, thats true (as in yes, some people believe that)

Yeah I mean my only experience with a mormon guy was that he had six or seven kids and believed he was of a superior spirituality that granted him superhuman strength and ability because he was mormon or something.
