Last night I actually attempted to listen to paranormal/spooky radio because I was tired of reading r/paranormal to get myself creeped out a bit. Anyways, what I found was predatory assholes selling natural remedies, anti-gmo/anti-vax slants, and general political insanity to gullible masses. I left with the realization that radio is definitely responsible for more insanity and irrationality in the United States than it gets credit for.
./rant Anyways, so anyone have decent podcasts/youtube channels for spooky content? Maybe there is a subreddit I missed somewhere. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Still going hard on bedtime stories.
Why was he forced to cancel his newly opened paranormal radio show? I'm not really a fan of Beyond Science. He covered one of those tools reportedly found fossilized in stone (axe) that was supposed to prove the earth was only as old as the Bible indicated. That guy does a horrible job at presenting both sides or giving a background for anything because the format crams content down so much. IIRC he used it to make the argument that humans have existed for millions of years more than previously thought rather than using it to make the argument that the earth is only as old as the Bible indicates. He didn't even mention that in passing. Basically his entire argument was based on something that could be easily disproven with some carbon dating. The church that keeps this axe was basically like, we don't want it carbon dated. We all know what that means (it's a hoax)... none of that is mentioned in the video. Like when you make the claim that aliens exist, I had a close encounter.. blahblah! That's cool and it's engaging to hear about even if you're batshit insane, but don't tell me you have a piece of alien space ship that you're just going to keep in your closet and never send in for analysis and expect people to believe you. That's kind of how I feel about Beyond Science (BS). Also stealth bump. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

The Church of Mabus Radio is something i'm tied in with, and my best friend hosts weekly on Fridays. It's a 2 hour show and he interviews everyone from authors, to abductees, witnesses to bigfoot and other cryptids, demonologists, satanists and influential people in the paranormal field. He's had William J Birnes on the show twice, who was a primary host on UFO Hunters on the History Channel. Some shows are interesting, some are batshit crazy, but it's good for entertainment value. The show runs from 7 to 9 Central every Friday, and the previous shows are archived on the website so you can go back and listen to some.

Megaman50100 posted...What was that X-Files esque podcast. Black Tapes? It's bad. Maybe not so much at the start, but it gets less interesting and more contrived every season, with plenty of bad acting and "wow this visual thing is so scary, listener, you don't even know" laced on top. The creators also have a very bad habit of stretching all their shows out and going on past when they should have ended. The antithesis of this is Limetown, a perfectly paced podcast of six episodes including small but relevant snippets between them, about a town of 300 people that vanish overnight. There's a novel, possible tv series, and season 2 off in the future, but as for right now it's just the one season and it's fantastic that way. https://www.twoupproductions.com/shows/limetown Then there's The Magnus Archives, about a small British organization called The Magnus Institute that collects people's statements concerning the supernatural. The format is quite often the same, a middle-aged-sounding skeptic named Jonathan Sims goes through unorganized stacks of these recorded statements and records himself reading them, then afterwards briefly talks about the evidence supporting them. What should be very samey (and still could be to certain people) is saved by the damn good acting, writing, sound design, and almost every episode--no matter how episodic--containing at least one trace element that combines with a hundred others to form a veritable web of mythos that makes re-listening a delight. And even if story arcs aren't your jam, there are still a ton of episodes that can be enjoyed in an episodic fashion. http://rustyquill.com/the-magnus-archives/ --- Audio Theater: For discussion of podcasts, radio, audiobooks, and the like https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/1364- ...
