Only ever played one or two matches of PUBG before I got bored and uninstalled it. Fortnite looks more complicated. Kind of just going in blind.

landed near a gym? Saw a guy run inside, chased in after him, he had grabbed a pistol, I tried to pick his brain with my ax and got slaughtered.

lol, that's how I felt with PUBG. I don't even know why I downloaded this.

Just did a different match, landed near a farmhouse, didn't see anyone else, started to hit some hay and the walls for wood and grabbed some ammo and then got pistoled.

building is like the most important part of the game, so if you want to git gud at fortnite you are gonna have to learn how to build properly and also fasterly too

Switch the controls to builder pro if you havent already. Also try to find a squad or some friends to play with, its much more fun that way and they can kinda show you what to do. If none of your friends play you could always play squads and have it fill with randoms

After playing Rocket League I'm afraid of teaming up with random people >_>.

That round I got two kills and injured a couple people so that wasn't bad.

I think I just want to play a competitive FPS and don't know what (NOT R6 Siege >_>). The Battlefield 5 beta kinda stoked the flames a little.

If you're planning on JUST running and shooting, you won't have much real success.

Building is pretty much necessary. If you find yourself in a duel with even a decent builder, with you not building at all, its a guaranteed loss.

lol I just landed at Lucky Landing and ran into a building and saw a guy and ran back and put down a couple walls, though not where I wanted. then I put down a wall inside and he just ran by me what a newb. and then he found me after many many seconds :(

you'll be at a massive disadvantage if you don't build. just hit up sandbox mode and practise some basic structures. its not minecraft, so they don't have to look cool, they just have to provide cover (1x1 boxes which you can stack into a tower) or height (ramps with walls). building is basic af in this game so once you have the keystrokes and mouse movement in your muscle memory its ezpz and you can throw whatever up in a pinch.

Landed on a pirate ship... Found some cool guns, got inside the hull, decided I'd go out through the bottom ... except the bottom was on a waterfall and I fell and died.

think I might go try Day of Infamy lol.

... Landed at some yard with a bunch of shipping containers. Found a lot of ammo and a damage trap but no gun. Ran outside for ten seconds, turn around and there's this massive friggin' structure some guy had built.
