https://www.reddit.com/r/NEET/comments/9e4nh6/people_always_say_learn_to_programme_i_tried_to/

People always say learn to programme. I tried to learn Programming, C++ and my god it's impossibly hard, how on earth does anyone understand this gibberish?

Got a C++, read like 20 pages and didn't understand a single thing, I'd have to read those 20 pages at least a second time for anything to sink in.

You have to memorize a million things

There is significantly less stuff to memorize than non-programming languages

everything looks like gibberish

If you're working in assembly. Programming languages were invented to make everything very clear and easy to understand.

and you have to take in so much information that makes zero sense.

Programming can only make perfect sense or the program won't even compile. It's literally just logic and data.

marths trolling, and im not saying its easy either, but really you only have to understand programming concepts. you can google syntax and commands etc all day and still be a competent programmer

I don't imagine learning programming to be supremely difficult.

Just like any other -language- exposure to it and constantly studying it should yield decent results over time.

Basic programming is easy.

Being good enough to get a degree in computer science and getting a high-paying job is not. Thats' the reason there aren't enough programmers for the current demand: it's because it's hard and most people can't do it.

The idea that "everyone should learn programming" that everyone pushes these days is silly, it's equivalent to saying "everyone should learn physics".

Learning to program is like learning a whole language. Self-teaching is not enough. Doing side projects is not enough. Even going to school for is not enough. Like most things, you have to use it daily to get it. You have to get thrown into the mix and have literal hands on experience where you fuck up and then learn step by step how to fix it.

C++ is considered complex? Its the first programming language I learned, in my computer sci class for science and math majors. The prof sucked so I pretty much had to self-teach

C++ is considered complex?

Absolutely.

It's not difficult to learn the basics (functions, POD types, simple text input/output, branching constructs and loops, etc.), but the language is massive. When you start adding other things into the mix (classes, templates, inheritance, the STL, memory management / pointers / smart pointers, etc.), there are so many pitfalls and esoteric things to keep in mind that it's easy to fuck things up. See: https://isocpp.org/faq

Even C, which is comparatively much simpler, has so many little-known aspects. C++ takes it to another level. The language is also constantly expanding with new standards (C++11, C++14, C++17, etc.).
