We come to Big Bear as a family thing, and its a little tourist town whose economy relies on a really nice lake. We havent come in about five years, and the water level had decreased literally 15-18 feet. The lake is almost ruined, this is a complete tragedy.

Not much else to say, this just sucks a lot.

Were driving through the town and its so empty. I mean there are some people, but the hotels that were always full are empty.

This reminds of me of the time I went to this really big park, and it was like completely abandoned. There wasn't a single other person there, the benches were all rusted and collapsing, the infield of the baseball fields were covered with patches of tall grass, the plants were overgrown. It was kind of freaky

There was an amusement park near me I used to love called Williams Grove. Went there all the time as a kid

It closed down just over a decade ago and is now just a bunch of creepy abandoned rides and overgrown plants

It looks lovely. Shame about the water levels. Sounds like it was formed because of a dam. How much rain has the area seen this season?

LA has gotten little rain this season, but Big Bear is around 120 miles out. Not sure how much rain it's gotten specifically, but here's a pic. You can see the old waterline on the rocks to the right and what remains of a muddy bank cut off from the main body of the lake to the left.
