Ever since DC went to the unified style for the animated movies with the hyper stiff animation I've basically lost all interest. Also New 52 is dead and buried and they're trying to pretend it never happened, so it's crazy to me that they're still doing it for the movies.

I agree with you, LtM. New 52 sucks and I don't know why they're sticking with it now that it's thankfully dead in the comics.

But that just goes to show how they stepped up their game for this movie. The animation is some of the best they've ever had. The fight scenes are nuts.

Superman actually puts himself at greater risk to save civilians. He's the version of the character we deserve.

No I hated it from the very beginning. I took a break from comics for a while because of it.

Another note: this movie was written by Peter J Tomasi, if that helps. I think he's a pretty good writer.

btw I mostly agree with this, but only as far as the main heroes go. I can see that being a huge turnoff but there was still a handful of great B and C list books getting made. I'm not really sure if the A-list is any better or worse off now than they were.

Yeah there were plenty of great B listers and below. Dial H is an all time fav. Even fuckin OMAC was fun. But all of the big books, even the ones with good talent, were falling real short. And then Johns stopped being a regular and I was done.

Firestorm still one of the most hilariously awful things from that relaunch. Even Glass' Suicide Squad was better.

Yeah there were good stories in the New 52 for sure. I just don't feel any of them actually needed an entire universe reboot to be told.

Indeed Killing Joke was... unfortunate. These are the good recent movies:

Batman: Bad Blood - original story with Batwoman, and Dick Grayson as Batman. Really good, superb animation.
Batman: Assault on Arkham - Set in the Arkham games universe, so if you like those games (why wouldn't you) then you'll probably like this movie. It's not even a Batman movie, it focuses on the Suicide Squad.
Justice League: Gods and Monsters - an elseworlds story by Bruce Timm. Worth a watch at least.

The rest aren't worth much. Avoid Batman and Harley Quinn at all costs.

Oh well you can stream it on amazon and other common places. It's worth the $6 to rent.

I'm always skeptical about spending money for DC movies nowadays. Getting this one on blu-ray now that it turned out so good.

Feels nice to give DC money again.
