Born and raised here and if this hits this will be first Hurricane ever. Hopefully it misses us.

My only concern is this thing knocking off power... I have a fantasy draft to do on Saturday.

PB+J all day.

Mahalo is like the number 1 thing you hear in oahu.

When we shot pool in oahu they had a 15 minute presentation before our match about the importance of the phrase lol.

How swifty hasn't heard it kind of is weird to me

Mahalo
"(May you be) in (Divine) Breath"

Also, Tekashi, Oahu is just the name of the island. You don't say Mahalo Oahu. You say Mahalo. It is a word of respect, serenity, calmness, spirit of Hawaii.

When I was there for a week I probably head Mahalo north of 300 times in comparison to hearing Aloha maybe 30-40 times in the span.

I am just saying Hawaiin natives gave us a literal presentation on it and it was on our flyer when we arrived at our condo. Our flight attendant said it when he met us. We were greeted with it at Ted's bigger burgers when we got to the register and at multiple gas stations. I just don't think that shit fits your it is only used for thank you idea. But, I don't live there. Maybe those damn natives were bullshitting. We heard it moreso on North shore than in Honolulu itself, but the pool tournament was in Waikiki and they were big on it there.

And Im telling you Mahalo means Thank you. It may mean other words in the Hawaiian language as the language only has so many letters, but it is primarily used to say Thank you. Im not sure why people were greeting you with Mahalo, unless you did something for them; they greet you saying Aloha.

I explained why. The flight attendant gave us a small crash course on it on our inbound flight while giving us recommendations of what to do. Then they had a presentation explaining why natives say Mahalo so much before our tournament started. They said mahalo is basically a word of high respect among Hawaiians. That the meaning doesn't translate to English properly.

Oh and he made us listen to this iPod full of songs from the guy he said is basically the Michael Jackson of Hawaii. I forget the name though.

Yeah but you're literally arguing against a guy that has lived in Hawaii for his whole life based on a presentation you were given on vacation.

Obviously I wasn't serious. I think anyone would assume the person who has lived in a place their entire life to know more about the local phrases and what they presently mean than someone who has visited for a week and had a short presentation.

Typhoons are only in parts of the Pacific ocean, not all of it. Northwest portion I think? Hurricane is correct for Hawaii.

I looked this up yesterday because I thought the same thing.
