If it matters I have basically played nothing but a Sudoku game on my DS for the last 4 years and pretty much only play it on the toilet, so stuff I can play it short bursts would be preferred, but not required.

Bravely Default is a decent RPG, but the gameplay loop really turned me off to it

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance is fine I guess, wasn't exactly my cup of tea but one playthrough was sufficient for me

Pokemon X/Y are solid but there's fuckall for a postgame.
Pokemon Gen III remakes are pretty damn good unless you care about...iunno, Battle Frontier or whatever it is. Something's missing from them.
Pokemon Sun/Moon are interesting. Lots of small departures from the normal formula, some good, some bad, most weird.
Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon are the same game but with minor changes. Better in most ways than the older versions.
Zelda OOT3D is brilliant.
Zelda MM3D is pretty damn good, but Twinmold is shit now.
Zelda A Link Between Worlds is alright but its approach to "open world" weakens the gameplay considerably.
Metroid: Samus Returns is good enough to give hope for 2D Metroid's future, but the new physical attack Samus has trivializes most of the game.
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is weird as shit but entertaining.
Bravely Default had the workings for a great RPG and then it ran out of ideas partway through, so it padded it out in the worst way imaginable.

The Angry Birds games are on it, those are pretty good for short bursts.

Monster Hunter is pretty fun but it's not so good for short bursts, hunts have a time limit of like 50 minutes and it will actually take you close to that long sometimes. But MH4U seems to be the one most people recommend, and the only one I've played. It's pretty good imo

if you mostly did Sudoku there's an absolute fuckton of Picross games available on the 3DS

I personally really recommend the Etrian Odyssey games, they're first-person dungeon crawlers with pretty in-depth party building and the option to draw your own maps on the touch screen with plenty of ways to detail your map to your specifications, but I dunno how suitable they'd be to bathroom breaks

for the Pokemon games on the system, XY is thoroughly just okay, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire improves on Ruby/Sapphire really well but leaves out everything Emerald added so it's only on par and not beyond it, Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon do some really cool things and some really shitty things and ends up just alright, regular Sun/Moon I can't stand and is the source of everything wrong with USUM; tldr just get Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon

Fire Emblem is probably good for bathroom breaks, I personally really liked Echoes, but Awakening is the one that was breakout popular

if you go for Monster Hunter, 4 Ultimate is probably the best choice, 3 Ultimate is also good but doesn't have online, Generations isn't really worth getting since the Switch is getting an updated version of it

Radiant Historia is a masterpiece RPG to rival Chrono Trigger.
Alliance Alive is a great spiritual successor to the Saga series.

Dragon Ball Fusions is... it would be so easy to say "pokemon" but I think soccer RPG is actually more accurate. Theres a strong emphasis on kicking your opponents out of the ring, or juggling them between your team-mates.

Just play until the end of chapter 4, and consider it "finished". You aren't going to really do anything after that you haven't done already, apart from increasingly obscene bossfights.

I bought a used old 3DS XL, I know it means there are a few games I can't play but really Xenoblade is the only one that bothers me, and I will have plenty of other great RPGs to choose from that I should be okay.

The boss fights are fine, the last few are even interesting, but the dungeons...

That said, I recommend getting the bad ending on the 4th... segment of the 5th chapter. So you see whats happening and I like the bad ending.

Well guys I have some GREAT NEWS

The only reason I got a 3DS was cause the hinges on my DS Lite finally broke after thousands of hours of use. Like I said I only really played Sudoku Gridmaster (from Hudson) on it, so instead of replacing my DS I decided to upgrade to a 3DS to play some new games. Well it turns out the one Sudoku game for the 3DS is basically just an updated version of Sudoku Gridmaster with new puzzles and a bunch of other stuff added. So not only do I get to play 3DS games I missed out on I get to play a better version of my favorite DS game!

This kind of shit is why I dont buy new video games anymore. My 3ds (which works perfectly fine) doesnt play some of the best games, so Im expected to own two 3ds systems to play my game library (many people never had a DS and bought their DS games for 3ds).

same thing with the PS4. Thats why I sold mine. You are expected to pay full price for your PS3 digital games if you just want to play them on your PS4. If I pay for a game on Vita, I should be able to download it FOR FREE for PS3 and PS4.

The PS4 only plays PS4 games, and theres like two good ones, so I took the $300.
