Muhammad Ali protested actual oppression in the United States. Colin Kapernick abused victim narratives because he was on bad grounds as a quarterback and needed a way to gain popularity despite his lackluster performance. The two aren't even remotely comparable.

Converting to Islam because you think Christianity is a white man's religion is the opposite of protesting oppression.

Don't ruin his ill-informed narrative

That has absolutely nothing to do with his draft protest.

That has absolutely nothing to do with his draft protest.

Oppression has nothing to do with the draft either. Ali was a notorious segregationist. He was more extreme in his views on race than Malcom X. He opposed interracial marriage and other similar civil rights issues.

Ok so we should just completely disregard him stating directly that that was his reason for draft dodging and listen to what you think his reasons were instead of what he literally said.

By his words he refused the draft because of his Islamic faith (aka he was legitimately invoking religion of peace)

So........

Yes, fair point. Although we should consider that Ali did protest the controversial Vietnam War, refused to be drafted and lost four good years (maybe the best years) of his athletic life.

Anyway, I hope they stop comparing Ali with Kaepernick. Regardless of whether we agree with Alis decision at the time, it really seems obvious to me that he was sincere in his protest and was a champion who lost his boxing license, prime years and popularity. Kaepernick is an opportunist and isnt losing out on anything. People are sending him money and hailing him as a hero. These two men are nothing alike.

Didn't Trump avoid the draft himself? Maybe that's why.

I thought they let his contract run out (i.e. expire)? Hes not a champion level athlete like Ali was, so its absolutely debatable whether or not he should be in the NFL at this point.

It's called being able to piss people off for petty reasons. It's very easy when people have nothing else to complain about in life (none of you are hungry or bankrupt because of cancer). Go on the internet/social media and find reasons to bitch.

The man is a genius.

Yeah that's right. I remember it was just like the time that SBAllen didn't renew Krystal109's contract but she definitely wasn't fired.
