Every 30-40 yr old talks about how strong they were when they were in their 20s like they were Hercules.

No lol. However, people do tend to get comfortable as they age.

Well idk if I was stronger but I was definitely skinnier and could push out 100 push ups just like that. In my older age I'm still doing them but with alot of extra weight attached to me, so no, I don't think I was stronger in my 20s, more fit would be the word.

No, they just make up excuses why they are fat. No reason for it to drop off if you take care of yourself. Most people just dont and at that age is when it begins to show.

Testosterone naturally lowers for men in their late 20s reducing muscle mass. Reduced muscle mass makes it easier to put on weight. When you put on weight, testosterone is further suppressed making it more difficult to lose that weight.

In addition most men and women in their 30s have already found a partner and have less of a biological need to keep taking care of themselves.

I started lifting about a year ago now and am much stronger than I was in my 20s.

BMR and testosterone loss with age is minimal if you continue working out and eating right. People just give up and want an excuse.

Maybe it's harder as you age but it's still all relative. My dad is over 60 and just retired from construction work last year. His biceps are like freaking trees.

You do naturally lose testosterone as you age, but if you consistently work out it really shouldn't be a problem. The problem is that people get older, they have kids, get sedentary jobs, eat whatever they want, don't put effort into maintaining themselves and the longer you do that for, the harder it gets later to lose the weight.

You don't lose it but that's the point when it typically starts declining, theres a reason why they say professional athletes are on the wrong side of 30.

I've heard that 30 is the magic number where men start to lose their metabolism. I'll be 32 next week and it hasn't happened to me yet. I still have a 6 pack despite rarely working out.

I have noticed a decrease in sex drive though. I can't perform quite like I used to on a consistent basis.

People just stop trying. The type of fitness that fades around 30 is mostly explosive speed and power. Things like stamina and muscle mass fade and even peak quite a bit after 30.

I think that might be the worst part and happens very rapidly. I have no problem getting started. I have started taking forever to finish. I cant have sex every day because my wife says she feels bruised inside after that long.

Not really sure about that, athletes in many sports hit their prime in their early 30s.
But I agree that the main reason why people get out of shape is they just don't bother taking care of themselves anymore. Work and family take up a lot of time and energy.
