It is weird as shit how easy it is to make people happy just by showing your face.

I had to fill in as our office's supervisor a few times. The normal supervisor just sat in the office and literally texted people who were fifty feet down the hallway. I sometimes did that if I was particularly bogged down and wasn't 100% sure if the person would be there, but otherwise I would just get up and hand deliver whatever paperwork it was that they were getting back.

Probably 90% of the time I went back there I'd just sit for a couple minutes and see how people were interacting with each other and working, and then I'd ask if anyone wanted to go smoke.

And apparently that like few minutes a day of interaction was instantly recognized as something groundbreaking compared to the other person who never spoke to anyone outside of daily meetings.

Ya'll claim I can just mute it and then unmute it as "a professional adult" - have you considered the possibility that I am dedicated to my workplace and that's exactly why I haven't muted it?
I already subdued the notifications and everything but I still check it periodically because sometimes they need paperwork or information, and yes I'm on leave and can just ignore it but it makes it easier for literally everyone if I just take the two minutes to do it.
