Compared to most Western nations, Americans hardly get any time off work.

I do not. I do have them off, but I don't have them as holiday, and could get called in potentially if something awful goes on at the hospital. I think a large number of other Brits do though.

No, even as a government worker that gets days as insignificant as Columbus Day off. We don't get anything for Easter.

I get Good Friday off with pay because the owner was raised Catholic and is a weird age where many don't go to church but still do the easter/lent traditions.

I get Friday off fully paid. I have to go in Monday night but I get ten hours of holiday pay plus double time until midnight.

They do, but it's rare. The last two times I got Good Friday off was when I worked on the movie Carol (the movie industry would've been the last place I would've thought would allow people to take off for that), and 1st grade back in 1998.

Nah, if we were open on Sunday I'm sure we'd have it off but we don't get Good Friday or the day after Easter off and are already closed on all Sundays. Although other holidays, Independence Day, Christmas, New Years, etc, if they fall on a Sunday we would get the next day off instead.

I miss working at a school... spring break was always coincided with Easter.

I'm in the Army and we got Friday and Monday off

I've never heard Easter Monday before.

That said, I have to drive 4 hours Sunday evening from family to get home for work the next morning. Sure would be nice to have a holiday the day after Easter Sunday.

It's not considered a Federal holiday so places don't but there are the occasional business that close. Schools normally get those days off though.

The supermarket I used to work for back in 2012 was closed on Easter.
I checked up on them and they are open til 3pm now on Easter.

I get Good Friday off (bank holiday) but Ill probably work a few hours because we have a lot of Asian offices that dont close and they get whiny

My wife gets off, but I'm going to work today.

I get 8 total paid holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Christmas Eve and Christmas. I hate how 6 of them are loaded in a 4 month span.

I also get 16 days of PTO which I use probably about 10 days of in the first half of the year to balance everything out.

As an American, I can tell you this is true. Fast food places, for example, are open 363 1/2 days of the year. Only Christmas and the latter half of Thanksgiving you get off.

Oddly enough it is a company holiday where I work, considering the auto plant I work at gives absolutely zero fucks. I think it's because it's *the* most religious holiday.
