I read that Americans now spend more at restaurants than they do at grocery stores. Good God no wonder people have debt problems. Lazy idiots would rather live paycheck to paycheck than do dishes and prepare food.

I prefer for my plate to not wobble everywhere when I cut something. Eating anywhere other than a table just sounds like a poor experience tbh.

It's sad that people find this weird. Always loved it growing up and love it even more now I have a family of my own.

It was that way when I was growing up, but then parents separated (never officially divorced) and then everybody did the "eat food in your own space" deal.

My birth family (mom, brother, sister, father, etc) didn't do that. Especially after my mother divorced my father.

My family (wife, daughter, son, etc) do eat together at the dining table. Usually with the TV off. But the kids are just 4 and 19 months old, so they aren't complaining yet.

My family eats together every night. Before we begin our meal, we pray together. We talk about our days while eating. This is probably the best communication we get all day as we are all usually busy doing our own things.
