Why can't I ever find a nice one that isn't volatile? The kind that is calm and won't scratch me out of nowhere?

I think this is why I've always been a dog person. They're the antithesis of cats in the best way possible.

cat's vary on personality, some can be chill others not so much.
the last tabby female cat i had was outdoorsy but liked to be petted. never clawed or bitten me.

Some cats only like their owner.

Also some cats you need them to get used to you first. They don't know you so they probably feel scared or threatened

Some cats you have to build up trust with for months. Some will just want to be petted automatically, although approaching them outside is a toss up. Usually in a family household the cat will have a favorite based on how long somebody plays with them, actually feeds them, and cleans up their litter.

i once had a mean cat that you couldnt pet without getting a bloody hand.
i found him wild and took care of him
the only person he was loving to was my golden retriever jasmine

when the cat first met jasmine he scratched her. and she in return raised her paw and just bitch slapped the poor kitten.
and from that point on the cat was always cuddling with the dog and sleeping next to her.

the cutest thing was that the cat would go pick fights with bigger cats around the block and then run and hide behind jasmine when they fought back.

i had another cat that i found abandoned by its mother (or perhaps its mother got run over) but it was too young to be separated from its mom but i took it in and raised it.
she grew up to be a very loving cat but the problem was she was kind of a whore. this cat was always pregnant.
the first time she got pregnant i was watching a tv (i was a teenager when i got her) while laying on the floor because all the chairs were filled up.
she came up to me cuddled up real close started purring as a petted her. and then she started popping out kittens right beside me.

and the last cat i found living in the first house i ever had. i thought it was wild but no it was just scared and abused. so i spent a few weeks leaving cat food out for her and being patient. eventually she came out from hiding and let me pet her just a little bit.
over time she became one of the most loving cats i had ever had. she would sleep with me and always wanted to cuddle. she was a great hunter too.
i had her for years and sadly a few months ago she got ran over

the first one ran away after jasmine passed away from cancer

the second one we had to give up because she was having too many babies and we didnt have the money to have her spayed.

I only have the one cat but she's so affectionate it borders on obnoxious.
It wasn't always like that, but she was abused by her previous owner and wasn't cool with us at first. She eventually figured out we're not gonna be bad to her, and she get comfortable.
